Hey John,

Awesome promo. I'm trying to perform the technique you mentioned but I'm still trying to figure it out. Anymore tips to offer?

Hey John maybe this was already answered but how did make it look like the punches etc react to the light? Is that where starglow came into play? Like the parts where the lights effect the boxers it looks very cool seemed you did it in the hulk promo too.

thanks

Sorry I forgot to add that the masks I used to "fill" the holes were filled with white using the Fill effect. JD

How did you use multiple masks with a track matte applied to the layer? I tried it and I dont find way to make it "fills" the holes?

I keyed the footage using a combination of luma mattes and rotoscoping. To create the luma matte I duplicated the footage, applied the Shift Channels (to make it greyscale) and Levels (to crush the black and whites) effects. This made a pretty good matte but I still had to fill in some holes using hold-out masks. For some of the stationary shots I used more masks because I wanted the boxer to be clearly in front of the light. This wasn't so important for other shots where the boxers were moving quickly - in these cases it looked better if part of the boxer was in front and part behind, that way they looked as if they were "in" the light beams.

The color grade was created using Stu Maschwitz's Rebel CC preset. You can grab it <a title="Prolost" href="http://prolost.blogspot.com/2006/10/rebel-cc.html" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Hello John.

Nice job. Like all of yours. I like the most how you use starglow.

It would be great if you should post a .ffx for color correction you made for boxers.

Thanx.
