I’m new to After Effects and have been searching for cool tutorials to show me the ropes. Your tutorial is the second one I’ve seen that uses the Trapcode effect. I have CS4 version and I don’t have Trapcode in my list of effects? Can you help me?

Hi Rickie, Trapcode plug-ins are amongst the most popular in the world. You can learn all about them at http://www.redgiantsoftware.com

Rickie, Trapcode is a group of effects that you need to download. The site that I downloaded my copies was http://www.redgiantsoftware.com
If you go to http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products , you can find a list of various products on the site. There are nine Trapcode products. It seems that the three most popular are Form, Particular, and 3D Stroke.

John,
I love all your tutorials in PS and AE. Your teaching methods are so easy to understand. You give us different perspective of the these tools and not just click this and click that. However, I have been struggling trying to do this effect. Here is the link:

What is the best way to track this? via mocha or AE tracking tool?
Can you give me a quick written suggested guide of how I could go about? I know you are busy. I have plenty of time. I am checking out some more tutorials from you. You are totally awesome!!!

Hi tvandang, you could use either of those or even just use Corner Pin or CC Power Pin (better) and do it manually. Freeze the shot, mask out the inside edges of the frame (leaving only the guys face) then track that to the corners of the frame. Best, John.

using CC Power Pin is better but having a 26 seconds clips with a frame rate of 30 would be about 780 frame to adjust the corners. is that how i would do manually? it would be accurate but it would be too time consuming. am i wrong? thanks!

You track it – using after effects built in tracker or Mocha. There’s help available from various places. Creative Cow has good intros to Mocha.
