Coremelt is a relatively new player in the After Effect plug-in market, with a wide range of inexpensive Mac OSX-only plug-ins that are all 16bit and GPU-accelerated. In this chat with Coremelt’s Roger Bolton we discuss the origins of Coremelt and it’s plug-in range, with specific focus on the Shatter and Luminous products. Coremelt is also offering a $30 discount to Motionworks readers. Use the code MWORX999 to pick up the Motion Graphics box including Shatter and Luminous for only $99. This offer is for 2 weeks only.

I use the Coremelt plugins in Final Cut, and I LOVE them! I know they also work inside AE, but I find myself using my more familiar plugins.

Thanks for the post. I do a lot of the color grading, so the Pigment and Luminous filters had the most appeal to me. Like many of the newer advanced filters, CoreMelt departs from the standard FCP slider parameters to add its own custom GUI in the filter control pane. If you get lost in how an effect should work, click on the CoreMelt logo and a PDF manual opens in Preview to walk you through the steps. You can pick between the standard or custom interface. Custom uses certain range-based sliders that are helpful in some of the color correction adjustments. So, I like it all!!!
