Nice work, but they don’t fit John’s style or what the show is about.
The ideal opening should compliment the series.
Still, nice effort.
Best,
J

I agree with James Wicks. And I would also use these grey-blue color from this website.

Any chance of deadline be extended?
Thanks!

The exciting thing about this challenge is everyone gets to give their interpretation of Unplugged. I’m looking forward to seeing your entries James and Designiac! Best, John

Wow, Kevin Snyder’s is perfect. Clean, simple and comprehensive.
Snyder – did you use the shatter effect to extrude your text? If so how do you get the audio keyframes to only push from the bottom up? I’m suspecting you may have used a third party ad on but if it can be done within AE I would love to get a hint. : -)
They are all good so far. Awesome!
I could not come up with a good idea. I suppose there is still time. I will link you to the one where I did not follow the guidlines at all.

Hey Jim, I think Snyder’s video was made in a 3D package in my opinion. Because I dont think its would be possible link the audio to the shatter effect to extrude the text from the audio. And plus I see there is a reflection map on the text, which I dont think you can do in the shatter effect in After Effects.

Robert mentioned he used Trapcode Soundkeys and Cinema 4D… an intriguing combination!

Yeah, wishful thinking on my part. LOL
I’ve hooked up the Shatter extrude property to audio keyframes and gotten a nice 3D effect while animating the shatter effect camera. Still it only extrudes from the center and not on a per character basis. If you reduce the opacity on the texture of the side and fiddle with the material options you can get a semi-reflective effect. Nothing as clean as what you get in a 3D program. Plus you can’t stroke the characters.
BTW – really nice entry David.

Also, Akseli Tuomivaara – spectacular!
Seriously, all of them are great.
Rock on!

Nice work folks
I have not got a hope! I’m no 3d artist so I have just had to stick with after effects so expect plenty o’ wiggle expressions, screening blend mode, and flat font :p
Expect mine in tommorrow JD
Best

3D doesn’t necessarily mean it will win Alex! I’m looking forward to seeing your efforts.

Hey All,
Very cool clips. It seems we all took a hint from the music and ran with it, albeit to different pastures. That’s the fun of these contests. Thanks John, very inspirational!

Brett’s video doesn’t seem to be embedded right. Kicks me to youtubes’ login page.
Nice start everyone else. Looking to get mine in this weekend.
