Hi Joel, Yes this can be a problem, especially when placing an outer glow or stroke around the text.

Thanks John. When the penny dropped for me I realised I could build some pretty complicated text looks by simply adding Animator properties and Range selectors together. And in case you’re curious, I learned the basics from Brian Maffitt in his Total AE series. Best wishes, John.

Hi john and everybody, about text layers and animators i’m still wondering if there is a workaround to make Layer styles in text layers, render before the text animators. did you ever had some issues with that or is just me? Thanks for sharing this video BTW.

I only wondwer what was the purpose of using an animation preset since you reworked it completely after all? Might as well (or even faster) start from scratch

Hi John !
I have to tell you : Until then I thought that text tuts in AE were Aharon R.’s field (he’s really great).
But really you managed to teach it a still easier way ! I had trouble understanding what to animate in text property, specially the offset, and the global use of the “range selector”.
Now it’s perfectly clear : Man you put it to the next level for me. Thanx a lot, can’t wait for part 2.

This is a great tip! I have been using Ae for a few years and had no idea these existed (I actually hand animated the type writter effect by hand using masks!!!). Thank you so much, I love it when experts go back and teach about the tools that get overlooked. Can’t wait for part 2!
